Farsightedness or hyperopia occurs when the eyeball is too short. When viewing a nearby object, the eye can’t concentrate the light strongly enough.
Nearby objects appear blurred on the retina. People suffering from farsightedness see nearby objects out of focus. The light from distant objects, on the other hand, can be concentrated normally. Farsighted people see clearly at long distances.
Many problems are caused by continual strain on the eye muscles.
People with hyperopia suffer more commonly from eye pain, headaches, burning eyes and eye inflammation, and they tire more quickly. Farsightedness puts more strain on the muscle which controls the focus of the lens as it changes between long and short vision. For a person suffering from farsightedness, this muscle never gets a break.
